Government of India has extended the deadline for application of Aadhaar by Poor Families urging to avail Free (LPG) Cooking Gas Connection till September.

In March 2017 to avail free LPG under scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) Government of India had made Aadhaar Mandatory. Household below poverty line (BPL) were entitled to avail free LPG connection if they furnish their 12 digit Aadhaar Number. Those household who doesn't possess Aadhaar Card have to apply for Aadhaar Enrollment latest by 31st May 2017, to be able to avail Free LPG. So now the Mnistry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has now issued a notification about extending the deadline to 30th September 2017.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Scheme was launched last year and had proposed to issue Free 50 Million LPG Connections to poor household, which aimed to provide clean cooking fuel for poor women. But till date only 26 million free LPG Connections are issued to poor women families.

The Women who doesn't have Aadhaar will have to enroll herself for Aadhaar Card and apply for free LPG Connection by providing her Aadhar Enrolment ID Slip. You will also have to provide Government Identification Documents like Bank Passbook with Photograph, Voter ID, Ration Card, PAN, Passport, Driving License, Kissan Photo Passbook or Certificate of Identity having photo issued by Gazetted officer on an official letterhead.
