Since Inception of Aadhar, Government was allowing private agencies to set up their Aadhar Enrolment Centers to Enroll Residents for Aadhar Card.
The Private Agencies was equipped with fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, camera, laptop, printers and other devices to issue Aadhar Card. But from now the Unique Identification Authority of India had passed order to the authority to carry out Aadhar Enrolment under State Government, now onwards no Private Agency will be allowed to enroll residents for Aadhar this task will be undertaken by Government Authority.
So does this mean the private Aadhar Enrolment Agencies are no more into business?
UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey has written to the State Government to recognize locations under Government Supervision, which can be used an Aadhar Enrolment Kendra. This intends that the Government Premises and Buildings such as Panchayat, Block Offices, Taluka Offices, Zillah Parishad Offices, District Collectorates, and Municipal Offices etc. would be now onwards used for Aadhar Enrolment Kendra’s. As of there are over 25,000 Aadhar Private Kendra’s in India and the idea is to bring them all under Government Control.
As per order passed by UIDAI, every State Government must employ their own Aadhar Operator or can collaborate with UIDAI Enrolment Agencies.
This step has been taken by UIDAI due to occurrence of several problems related to Aadhar Enrolment by Private Agencies. One of the common reason was residents were unable to locate the Enrolment Centers and have complained a lot regarding this, or some people would visit the listed enrolment agency but on visiting the center they would found it closed. Another reason was complaints regarding overcharging for Aadhar Updates, and some were also charging for new enrolments. Now the Private Aadhaar Enrolment Agencies has only two options either shift to Government Premises or Shut Down the centers.
