Police Started Linking Aadhaar Number with Gun Licenses

Hyderabad Police has started the process to link 12 digit Aadhaar Number with licenses of Guns and firearms. By linking Aadhaar Number with license holders, it will be easy to identify the owner of the arm and this will also enable transparency.

As of now Police has requested all gun license holders whoever has Aadhaar must get their Aadhaar Number linked.

With linkage of Aadhaar with Arm Licenses, police are also geo-tagging residences of the gun license holders. In the newly designed application software license holders location latitude and longitude details will be stored, which will be meant for internal usage and not public consumption.

Geo tagging will also help the station house officer to visit the residences of gun license holders. Any new issuance or renewals of license will not be denied if Aadhaar is not furnished as it is still not made mandatory.
