The Central Government of India has made linking Aadhaar Card Number with Bank Account Mandatory. Failing to link Aadhaar Card Number with Bank Account before the deadline 31st December 2017 will disable and freeze the bank accounts.
All bank accounts should be now mandatory linked with Aadhaar Number or else you will not be able to operate your bank account. If you are still not holding Aadhaar Card then get it done as soon as possible, with ID Proof and Address Proof documents you can easily apply for Aadhaar Card.
Till date PAN Card was only document which was mandatory required to open bank account or to carry out transactions exceeding Rs.50,000/-. But from 1st June 2017, Aadhaar Card Number is mandatory for opening bank account and to carry out transactions above Rs.50,000/-. If the applicant doesn't have Aadhaar Card while opening bank account then he can furnish proof of application for enrollment in Aadhaar i.e. Aadhaar Acknowledgement Copy and within next 6 months of opening bank account he will have to submit his 12 digit unique Aadhaar Number.
