Aadhaar Mandatory for TB Patients Seeking Government Benefits

Aadhaar has been made mandatory for tuberculosis Patients and health providers who are seeking for Government Cash Benefit under Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme. This programme is named as Nikshay is conducted online through web portal, in which all government and private healthcare providers have to register tuberculosis Patients on Nikshay Web Portal.

According to the latest notification released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it is mandatory to furnish 12 digit Aadhaar Number if he or she wants to get TB Treatment and government cash benefit under Nikshay Program. While registering tuberculosis Patients on Nikshay portal, it will ask the Aadhaar Number of the patient regardless they take cash benefit or not.

This step has been taken by Government to get rid of fraud and multiple entries of same patient in the database. When TB Patient visits for treatment they will now have to provide their Aadhaar Number so that officials can easily access the details of the patients.

If the patient doesn't have Aadhaar yet, then they are requested to apply for one as soon as possible and provide the Aadhaar Enrollment Acknowledgement Photocopy with other documents.
