IRCTC & Mistry of Railways has taken decision to revoke the mandatory requirement to produce Aadhaar Card for reserved tickets for senior citizens. Now Indian Railways cannot deny concessions when booking railway tickets if the Senior Citizen doesn't possess an Aadhaar Card.
This revocation came just two weeks after the railways had made Aadhaar Verification Mandatory to avail concessional tickets for senior citizens. However to avail concessional tickets the senior citizen will have to produce some proof of ID showing date of birth or age if demanded by the on-board ticket checking staff.
Aadhaar based ticketing system has been immediately withdrawn and it had bought relief to many people who have still not registered their self for Aadhaar.
